Poul Henningsen designed hundreds of lamps based on the three-shade system he developed in 1926 for unprecedented lighting quality that meets any need. Many of his lamp designs include a number that refers to the screen size of each particular fixture. The PH 5/5 is described as a “full” size suspension, characterized by its attractive compact appearance featuring an upper screen of approximately 50cm which corresponds to the central and lower screen in the 3:2:1 aspect ratio. PH’s ‘whole’ luminaires have been especially designed to be glare-free and can therefore be perfectly placed high up in a room where they combine great quality lighting with a welcoming ambience. The luminaire is available with white opal glass or soft touch black painted metal with white interior. The metal screens with white painted interiors reflect a subtle and mainly downward light, the upper metal screen combined with the central and lower screens in mouth-blown three-layer translucent opaline glass create a warm light around the suspension. The supplied frosted glass diffuser is easy to insert for even softer light distribution. Today, the signature lighting of Poul Henningsen’s full-sized PH 5/5 enhances contemporary interiors with its special touch of classic yet modern Danish elegance, or taking commercial spaces with high ceilings such as flagship stores to new heights, meeting rooms, restaurants, hotel rooms and lobbies.
